If you haven’t read the post titled It, read that one first because this one piggybacks onto that post. If you choose not to read It first, don’t complain to me when this post makes no sense.
What an un-attentive reader I’ve been. I usually study the cover art of a King book to predict what clues it could hold. Yes, I am that dorky. I make my predictions. Only a few minutes ago I summoned up the courage to put the dust jacket back on 11/22/63 to put it back on the shelf. As I gently wrapped the jacket around the back cover of the book, I looked at the news articles on that side. I read beyond the titles of the articles for the first time. I read the reporters’ names. The name of the reporter for the story titled “Americans Breathe Sigh of Relief” is Philip.
Philip Scudder.
This time I was literally stopped in my tracks as I was walking toward the bookshelf.
Never falling asleep tonight.
Okay. I feel better. Quick google search and remembered cousin Philip and Hy Line Cruises. They offered one of the first, if not the first, ferry tours of the Kennedy compound. The road to the Kennedy compound is Scudder Road. Helps if I remember the family history. Good grief.
I read this post, then read the It post, then read this one again. I’ve been a King reader since I was a young teenager. I know that his stories are all intertwined. Please remind me of the importance of the Pharmacist and the newspaper article writer Philip Scudder. If that seems a little dense, please give me a break. 🙂 Thanks so much for the consideration.
Hi-the pharmacist had to do with Eddie and his asthma inhaler-It uses the pharmacist at one point and he also is another example of an adult not being aware of what was going on in Derry-an adult that is supposed to help protect. That of course, is my humble opinion! The Scudders have been up in Massachusetts for a long time. One of the roads to the Kennedy compound is Scudder Road. It’s possibly a tip of the hat from Uncle Stevie to that local area.
