I used to throw Oscar parties. This evening I sit in my living room having seen exactly none of this year’s movies. Older son is sick with a fever and fell into a deep sleep at 8pm. Younger son got ready for bed and then begged for time on the computer. He’s finally asleep after feeding fish, being tucked in, taking an extra trip to the bathroom, and listening to Beautiful Boy sung by me.
And it seems that I didn’t miss anything big by joining the show sporadically for the first hour. I suppose I’ll end up watching the whole show, unless older son wakes up when his medicine wears off. But it seems like a whole lot of hoopla over nothing as I get older.
The big excitement today was finding Thumpback for older son. Then imagine our joy when we found the elusive Eyebrawl hidden behind some other products. I used to work in retail and I know how people hide the popular stuff, so we searched the shelves and found him. Sorry to the person who thought it was safely hidden, but really if it’s that important, buy it when you find it. This was the fourth or fifth store we’ve been to. Not all in one day, but over the past few days. The boys were really excited and Eyebrawl and Thumpback are pretty cool.
As far as Les Miz…I could one day play Madame Thenardier…I’ve got the voice and the bust. Enough said. It’s a goal. I’ll get there one day.
